Project Information

White Oak with Walnut accent Writing desk. All wood came from my Dad's home place in West Virginia, all wood milled by my Uncle. Fourth project for family built of wood from the home place. This desk is for my older brother. I designed the desk from an idea I got from an old photograph of a craft wood furniture store in San Fransisco from the 70s. I have gotten into the habit of using a 'scale' item in all my project pictures.

This is beautiful, reminds me of some mid century modern pieces I've envied. Nice work!

Ouwww that is nice stuff! Like the shape, the overall design and the little accents in the tablertop and the joint for the legs.
Would love to see the photograph that inspired you.

An instant favorite!

I see that you also use a bottle of beer to make sure everything is level. Its my favorite test :)

@Matt: Totally missed the bottle-test. How could that happen…?

thanks for the kind words, it was a trial to get it together, today is the big day, my brother will be here in an hour. @Matt, the beer is for 'scale' also serves as a level test
@michelletwo, I believe the table in the picture as a coffee table
