My winter project, finally mounted last week to replace an aging black steel box.

Cedar with a General Finishes oil stain, grooved construction. Front is a piece of plexiglass bought online. Routed out the house number from a font found online and transferred. I decided to hang it using two very small screwhooks, figuring eventually it’ll be the first thing that gets damaged and needs to be replaced.

Door swings open, but also has space at the top to push mail through without opening the door (not sure the postman has figured that out yet).

Sometime I’ll add a flag of some kind; thinking about a red wood flag on a dowel that slides up. We’ll see.

Great idea and nice work! Seeing things like this key off those brain moments where I go “Oh yeah, I can make stuff like that!” lol Thanks for sharing!
