This was my first clock and it was a gift for an elderly friend. I really enjoyed making it for her although I had never used a burning tool in my life. It’s made from soft cedar which I decided would give it a rustic appeal. The clock mechanism was inset using a router 1/2 in deep into the back part. Applied 3 coats minwax wipe on poly for the finish. The clock has kept perfect time for the three months it’s hung on her wall.

That’s a great looking clock—and it looks like your woodburning skills are progressing nicely!

Very nice work for being a first pyrography project. I used to do similar stuff back in the 90s…see my projects page for examples.

Thanks guys. It was a challenge but fun. Ed, I actually have see yours. Love the one with the raccoon in the tree. Thought about doing something like that for my mom as a gift. Nonetheless, I do have plans for at least one more when time allows. Some of my Christmas crafts are becoming time consuming right now.
