This boat was designed and built by me and will be capable of recharging its batteries by the motion of the boat in the water.. The more it rocks, the more it charges itself !!
I have been playing with this project for many years. It’s like that old 35 chevy in the garage.. You get to it when you get to it. I have a burning desire to use everyday motion and weight that is just plain wasted and turn it into electricity.. I can’t help myself.
It takes energy to lift your foot up but it is a total waste to lower it as all the energy is lost from that motion.
If it weighs something and moves, I can turn it into electricity and this boat was supposed to be my show and tell project but somehow turned into more of a furniture making project with all of the detail involved in it’s making. The inlays in the second pic are all curley maple set into black walnut and sapele. There is not a single straight line on a boat and I think that is what makes this the most fun. Every 3/8” thick strip on the boats hull was hand fitted on the frames and them covered with epoxy and glass cloth.

Welcome to LumberJocks.

You have my attention.
I may have the perfect application, if there is such a thing as perpetual motion and consistent charging.

I have three Great-Grandchildren and their battery operated tractor, 4-wheeler and barbie jeep are always in need of charging, but when charged they are definitely rockin’ & rollin’.

Might also work with a Hammock and a battery powered Keg-er-ator. ...just kiddin’ around ;-)

Marked this one to ‘Watch’, thanks for sharing. – Grandpa Len.

Kinda like those (very) expensive “self winding” watches that you have to buy a rocking cradle for it to set in at night?
