A painter friend displays and sells his work at the Sundance Resort in Utah. He had a painting for which he wanted a rustic frame. My plan was to use weathered barn wood, but I didn’t have enough material. I bought some new cedar fencing and washed it with a thinned mahogany stain to make it look a little weathered.

That came out very nice. Reminds me I need to make several frames for pictures my wife has painted of late…I like the rustic look as well. Thanks for sharing

I enjoyed the pictures you took of your trip around our Island. You drove right by us…should have stopped to say Hi.

Very nice work! I try to get some of that “old” material off of KSL classified’s. Don’t know if you have looked there for a source. Sometimes people want some cash and sometimes they just want the “junk” hauled away.

You did a great job making it look old!!!

@Thewoodman2000: I actually do check KSL regularly. In this case, when I was working on the project, I wasn’t find wood that was straight enough to work with. The last batch of old boards I indeed got for free from a woman in Springville who replaced her fence and was giving away the old one. Got some good stuff from that pile, but I’ve worked through it all :)
