Here is my first piece of furinture I have built. Made of solid Hickory. My challenge with this project is that I bought the wood and had it sit in my shop for years, I was nervous to get stated because I wanted it to be perfect. But once I cut the first board I was off and running. Had a litte trouble with the mortise and tennon joints but I learned a lot and each joint got better. I put a light stain to highlight the grain topped with poly. My wife wanted the tile top added so I changed the top design and then I put the inlay in which came out great.

For a first time making furniture, this came out great. If you figure out how to make something to come out “perfect”, please post so I can learn. Mistakes are my most numerous achievements.

I like it a lot. And you didn’t pick the easiest wood to work with.

Great job on this table. My FIRST Furniiture project is going to be made from Pine from HD because I can’t afford to Screw Up the good stuff.

Beautiful Table! I think hickory is one the best looking woods.
