My son asked if I could make a sword scabbard for his sword, I was up for a challange and this is what we ended up with. It is lined inside with felt to protect the blade and is snug enough that when hanging, does not slide off.

Great looking piece! Any resources you could pass on? That looks like something interesting I’d like to try for a friend who’s a bladesmith.

I basicly got two pieces of 3/4” walnut and traced the blade on each piece, I then used my dremal tool to hollow out each side. Once the blade fit perfect, I hollowed out a tad more to allow for the felt. Before gluing it together, I clamped it together to be sure the blade would fit snug. I then glued the felt on each side. Then I glued the wood and began to shape with a hand plane shapping it like the blade.

Fantastic. I should follow the same process for my swords. Never thought of it before. Great idea.

Great Scabbard! Those would sell well at the local Renaissance Festival. And thanks for the instructions on how to make one.
