Here is a hollow red and northern white cedar surfboard I have been working on. A friend of mine in church asked if I would be interested in helping him build a surfboard, sounded like fun so I said sure.
There is a mishmash of pictures here. the board needs one more sanding and then the fiberglass but that will wait until my friend gets back, he left on deployment this past Wednesday and we wants to do the glassing so that will wait until he gets back from Qatar
First picture is the completed board you can see the three strips of red cedar, the nose and tail are made out of red cedar 2×4’s the rest of the pictures show the ribs after I drilled the holes to allow for air flow and to lighten them, the white cedar boards I re-sawed for the top and bottom, The bottom being glued on to the spine/ribs and the board flied with foam before shaping the foam. The foam was a last minute decision that way a vent plug does not need to be used.
Fun project, next is a stand up paddle board
Thanks for looking
