I credit this project with completely removing my desire to try mixing mystery stains together. I was trying to get a dark stain.. one too dark, one too light, different brands, but both oil based. Figurd what the heck, done it many times. started with bare oak, looked fine going on. probably rushed the poly, trying to get it done. anyway, 3 days later still sticky. ended up completely sanding it down after a aggreesive scrub with acetone. Bought new can of S-W brand. Finally got something I can live with but the staining took longer than building it.

Kansas, I can’t tell you how many times I have fallen into the “it seemed like a good idea at the time” trap. Looks like you recovered well and have a super nice piece for your efforts. Fine job
