Well I made these about 5-6 years ago along with about 20 others, these two didn’t make the cut LOL have some checks from planer and cracks in wood. But last weekend I seen them sitting there and decided to finish them up so I sanded and oiled and figure I’ll put them on craigslist to see what I can trade for ehh maybe I’ll get something cool.

I’ll let you all know what i get if anything

They are maple, yellowheart and I think bloodwood but maybe redheart can’t remember. Maybe someone can tell me. I used bloodwood more then redheart back then. 7 1/2” x 12” rounded over sanded down and 3 coats cutting board oil.

thanks for looking

Nice looking cutting boards. I never thought to try yellowheart and maple, it’s a great combo though. I like the size of them too, I have a couple big ones, but I find myself grabbing the small one most often.

I’m terrible at identifying wood, but I’m going to guess redheart. Again, I’m really not sure though.

It’s fun to pull out older projects. I always like to see how I used to do things and compare to how I’m doing it now. Seeing your craft evolve is one of the best parts of what we do!

Thanks for sharing

so true about the old projects, It was kinda cool because when I was out in the shop last night my son followed me out there, and now that he is a teenager he doesn’t do that as much. So he was asking how to join the wood and how you made it seamless etc. It was a lot of fun to spend time when he was in a learning mode of my most favorite thing to do “spend time with him and talk about woodworking LOL”

Thanks for the compliment
