I book matched a small piece of buckeye burl that’s been buried in some cutoffs for years. Looked cool so I built a little box around it.

Thanks for looking.

Very cool. Grain looks like it is painted on with a wide brush.

Definitely “Nasgoul” material.

That is awesome. You should sell that to a modern art museum.

I see this guy?

I do like you work and that is a very nice piece of veneer!!! Always like the feathers in the corner of the boxes. Nice touch wrapping the veneer around the top edges!!!

interesting how we find patterns like that… my parents have a bathroom door which has a large owl face, a troll, and a devil with four sets of closely stacked eyes. I spent many an hour “sitting” in there analyzing that door. To this day, when visiting, I make sure to spend at least a few extra minutes just staring at that door… usually shortly after I have had my morning coffee. I remember, as a kid, imagining there were spirits that lived behind the wood, and they were watching me. Seems like they could of found something better to do.

That’s a nice box and that top really sets it off.

Thanks for the comments. Book matching is fun. I’ve had this alien (Well looks like an alien to me anyway) book match laying around forever and can’t quite figure what to do with him.

My first thought was Dementor (from Harry Potter). I like the alien also – looks like an Ood from Dr. Who. You should start your own wood workers version of comic-con.
Great job on the box and be sure to post the final project when you decide what to do with the alien.

Man that’s a wild looking box top! Kinda looks like a Tasmanian Devil (not the cartoon one.)
