I made this clock from solid Cherry, Cherry veneer and Cape Myrtle hand sawn veneer. The Myrtle is bookmatched on the rear panel. The Cherry veneer is featured on the door arch and the capital. The clock movement is by Kieninger, striking on the half hour and the full.

Ah! That’s one of the cases I saw against the wall in your workshop. I wondered when we’d see the details. A really beautiful job (as I expected), but I’ve missed some other projects of yours that I’ll backtrack to now. Thanks for sharing this, Tobias.

(PS: that Cape Myrtle takes my breath away!)

Hi Le Turbo
Thanks for the thumbs up on the clock. It’s not the clocks that you saw in my bench room. Those are a black Walnut Long Case Grandfather which is in the style of the “London Pagoda” type and the other one is in African rosewood, also a grandfather floor standing clock with glass sides and door. both of these should stand about 2.35 metres ( about seven and a half feet) tall.

The Walnut clock is a 14 rod chime triple weight and the Rosewood clock is a five tube gong triple weight clock.

Take care
Tobias

PS I was at Rare Woods in Epping yesterday and Saemus has stacks of Purpleheart shorts available 550mm x 40mm x 40mm for R12.00 each. That’s about 1 dollar each. Great for turning and small casework.
