I made coffee table is made from quilted Maple. I was tired of having lots of small antique display trinkets all over the place collecting dust. In South Africa, we call these little things “kaggelkak” which mildly translates to “mantelpiece rubbish”.....

The top lifts off and the interior base board is covered in blue velveteen material.

I made one of these also, different design/decore. Mine/ours showing our traveling momentoes. What you are going to find out, is that they leed into all sorts of conversations, that leed on into other conversations, that leed on into,,,,, with your guest. Good idea nice workmanship.

What a great idea…and of course the build is pretty nice as well. I also hate all those little pieces laying around or stuffed into drawers. thanks for sharing

You are absolutely right. All sorts of things in there, from a fossil fish to a bronze keel bolt from the restoration of the Cutty Sark tea clipper….......and the conversations roll…...

Thanks so much for your comment.

Hi Larry

Thanks for your comment. Yup, at least they are all in one place, stay dust free and can be enjoyed.

Have your say...
