Another one of my carvings, this time with three faces on it. The main figure has a bee on his tongue but it is a little hard to see in the photos. He is meant to be looking suitably startled. I really like the flowing shape of Arum lilies and the rounded form of the Kowhai buds. I try to find ways to incorporate them into my work in a reasonably logical way. The suggestion is that the bee has flown from the lily to the tongue.
As usual I have carved a random piece of driftwood. I suspect it is Willow. The curve at the top presented a challenge to flow the face around it. There was a ridge in the centre that assisted with the nose, forehead and chin.
