I was asked to make a rather unique challenge coin display in the shape of a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier with space for engraving and a 3.5” command challenge coin. It is 40” long by 8.5” wide and is at a 15 degree angle. It was actually pretty easy to do on the CNC machine. Had to tilt it to cut the groves so the coins would sit correctly, but other than that pretty straight forward. I used Paduak, mainly because they wanted something dark and i didn’t have any other woods that wide and didn’t want to do glue ups for this one.
