Variation on a Coffee Table from Beachbumlivin
So this is the finish (I thought) of my deal with the wife. I promised her end tables and a coffee table and she let me turn our laundry room into tool storage for all the new toys she was going to let me buy to build her these projects.
The project turned into application of my lessons learned from the construction of the two end tables. She loved being able to have input on how her furniture was to be made and how it would look. Overall a fun process for the both of us.
Like the end tables from the previous project, this project is all pallet wood scrounged from around base excluding a couple of pieces of Ipe for color/contrast and the railing around the edges. The table top, skirt, and edge railing was sanded to 220 and the legs to 180 (I got lazy). The table got two coats of Liberon Tung Oil and 6 coats of GF Varathane. That many coats of finish on a project has taught me new levels of patience. I don’t know how you guys manage projects where it’s 8 or even 10 coats of finish!
The wife does seem pleased with the coffee table and has even already put in her next request for an entryway table. Time to make some more sawdust! :) Thanks for looking and any comments, critiques, or suggestions to help me learn are always appreciated!
