Johnson Lumber’s 2014 Wood Expo is being held this weekend, Sept 5 and 6, at Johnson’s Lumber and Johnson’s Workbench in Charlotte, MI.

I’m a member of the Mid-Michigan Woodworkers Guild and we needed some holders for business cards and brochures. I made some of each for the Expo.

The brochure holders are simple oak boxes with a bit of wipe-on poly.

I went a bit wilder and a bit wackier with the business card holders.

Those look fantastic Russ. Wish I was a bit closer to stop by the show. I have always wanted to check out Johnson’s but never seem to make it over that way.

Hey thanks lumberjocks.

The two business card holders are actual planes. I didn’t cut in a mouth and didn’t sharpen the iron to razor-like keenness. I followed the principles set out in John Wilson’s book, “Making Wood Tools.” They were fun to make. The solid body one took more than hour to chisel out the opening and the seat for the wedge.

Sheila, do you recognize any scroll saw handiwork? By the way, I will be demonstrating scrolling technique this year. Fancy that.

Scott Phillips, host of the PBS show American Woodshop, will be there this year, along with several other notables.

Thanks for looking in.

Those are the best business card holders I think I have ever seen! Sure to be a hit at the Expo! Thanks for sharing.
