A twist on my stools

During the booth at the fair, first priority is to pay for being there. But the actual success is measured by custom orders received in the weeks that follow. That started the next day with 3 orders for custom stools (20 stools in all). Most however wanted swivels with backs. I had never made those before, so time to learn.

The seat is 30 inches high, 17 inches wide and the back is 17 inches high. I have made 3 different bases for it. I am fairly happy with this one. The splay is 11 degrees and seems very solid. My main complaint on the seat is that the back is too straight up. Needs to lean back another 3-5 degrees.

Here are some pictures of my glue up on the seat.

Thanks for reading and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

I love it Monte.

I guess you’ll be tired of making stools. The design looks great but sure looks like lots of work building just one. Glad the shows were a success. Hope you are getting enough money for these stools, pricing is always the worst part. I still can’t believe you get this much work done and still have time for a life.

Beautiful work. I can see why you got the orders. How did you end up making the swivel?.

Monte, are you saying that people order items from you that you have never made before and you commit to them that you can come thru with what they want?? Now don’t get me wrong. I have liked most everything you have posted but you must be willing to go way out on that limb further than I would ever go to sell something that has not been attempted. You must have moxie that I could only dream of.

Nice stool….....................

I am impressed all round Monte

Its a design I “fiddled” with last month and I guess I should do a production run, even if its only for the family !!
