This is a sample valet to challenge my high school students to take their time and create something that they are proud of. The main case dovetails are router cut and the small drawer has hand cut dovetails. The drawer front and removable till are curly maple. Cherry and walnut were used for the rest of the construction. Used some leftover blue flock to add some color and texture to the drawer. Drawer pull is homemade, made it for another project then decided not to use. Minwax satin poly for the finish.

Very nice project and I bet it will be a lifelong cherished item that will instill pride and love of woodworking .
Great project and I like your approach of using power and hand tool mix .

Very nice! I recently looked after a class that was making something similar as a “desk tidy” but they were nowhere near as ambitious in design, nor as well made.

I like it a lot. I am a big fan of making something that will get used daily. Well done!

Tech Teach, nice work especially on the hand cut dove tails. I like the design. You should be proud of this. I would have rounded the top surfaces of the till and edges to make them a little more finger friendly. Example is not a way to teach students, it is the only way to teach students. Here is a variation on this theme. Keep boxing and keep posting.
