Built in Window Seat for my Daughter
Carcass – 3/4” MDO Ply
Face Frame – 3/4” Poplar
Drawers – 1/2” Baltic Birch
Drawer Slides – 22” over extension
Drawer Faces – 3/4” Poplar with Beaded Trim
Window Seat Cushion – 4” foam covered with plush Fabric (made by local seamstress)
Drawers were finished with sprayed on Poly
Everything else was finished with sprayed on Semi-Gloss Latex / Semi-Gloss Poly mix (3:1 Ratio)
BTW If anyone is wondering about my paint/poly mix. I read about this in a magazine several years ago and decided to give it a try. I’ve had VERY GOOD RESULTS using this mix. The finished product seems really durable. Definitely sand between coats to get an ultra smooth finish.
I suppose that the same result could be achieved by painting first and then applying poly separately; but this way it seems that I can get the desired finish in less overall coats.
