I just purchased a new floor drill press. It is the Porter Cable from Lowe’s and was one of the best deals in my opinion. It is more than enough machine for my needs.

I used the Woodsmith 3-in-1 plans as inspiration, but made some modifications to work with the material that I had on hand. The casters are off of a Harbor Freight furniture dolly. The knobs I made from some scrap maple. The rest are scrap 2×4s and some really old plywood that was once a workbench in my garage. I never throw away material. Of course, it wasn’t pretty, but some black paint fixed that.

I like it

I think I could build this with three wheels and three leveling screws

Nice Jay, good project to make it mobile. My press is only a couple feet from where I assembled it, in the way of course. That is a neat set of plans for the storage too.

That PC is a great value. We’ve been abusing one at work for a few years and it’s still hums like new.
