While walking trough the garage one weekend, I grabbed a chunk of fire pit wood, like the one in the picture. It wasn’t very big, but I thought I would try to make something from it. After running it through my bandsaw, I didn’t have a lot to play with, but I figure I would make a Wood Whisper inspired pencil holder. It is a little shorter than his dimensions, which works out for some of the chalk and Sharpies. I scaled down the base and used a scrap of mahogany. It has a lot of flaws and I over did it with the polyurethane, but for the shop it is just fine. Better than that glass baby food jar I had in my shop for the past 10 years.
