Cherry and Purple Heart . The shape of this spoon ie, curved and sits well on counter is what I like. Most functional and very pretty.

A very lovely looking spoon with a very nice curve to it. Can’t say that I have ever seen one laminated like this previously. How thick was the wood blank that you started with?

Beautiful job and love the purple heart. THIS is a kitchen showpiece.

The blank was 1.5×1.5×15.5 inches. it is tricky to get layout inside that, but it is possible. I may have pictures if your interested.

Pretty spoon, Phil. I like the curves a lot. What sort of glue did you use to laminate… and how does it hold up in water?

Tightbond III IS WATERPROOF.

WOOD IS HARD MAPLE and purple hart not cherry. My bad

Blank was almost 2”x 2 3/4” not 1 1/4”. My bad again.

That is good to know Phil. I had considered experimenting with some laminated functional spoons. Now I know which glue to try.

Looks great! Did you use a spoon knife to carve out the bowl or something else?

Have your say...
