I carved this happy guy in a piece of Walnut driftwood. I do believe this is the happiest character I have ever carved. I thought the last guy was it, but this fella’ takes the cake :) I call this carving, “Elation”.

“Elation” measures 18” tall, 10” wide and 4” thick- Ginormous :)

The beard is the natural Walnut color and the face is painted with acrylics. I finish each piece with a coat of spray lacquer. This is enough to protect the paint without making the carving shiny. I feel like this sort of carving belongs indoors only, so I am able to keep a matte finish with no worry.

This carving will be sold at auction on Ebay beginning tonight at 9pm eastern. I start the bidding at 99 cents, but I put a reserve on this piece because it is so large and took so much time- plus I kind of want to keep it for myself :) To find this carving after 9 pm this evening, go to: and type in the words Josh Carte. Hit enter and all of the carvings that I have for sale at the time will show up. Hope this fella’ makes you smile! Have a good one :)

Nothing like adding emotion to a piece to bring it to life. Nice work.

Josh, he really is Elated. The happiest carving I have ever seen.
Congratulations on a super job.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Thanks, Roger! Thank you, Woodshaver :) That’s funny that I got beat out by a 2”x4” haha :) Much love, regardless…
