This is a wooden smoothing plane that I made in a Lee Valley seminar. I have to admit it was a lot of fun to build!

Looks like a Krenov design, Is the wood Ash, Hock irons?

The wood is Oak, with the exception of the Wedge and the pin on the inside which are cherry

Very nice! Does it work well?

I’ve always wondered how you set the blade depth on this type of plane? I assume a bit of trial and error?

Very light taps! the wedge for up and the iron for down! Firm strike on body behind iron to disengage iron and wedge! Really quite easy after a few years practice!
