Hello

This is not a very original project because a lot of members have done adirondacks but I want to try to make one for my wife ( a simple project this time and perhaps in the future a traditionnal adirondack !!)

I use the plan from Steve Ramsey at Woodworkingformeremortals and I made a lot of modifications to make it more sweet ( I hope !!)

This project isn’t really finiished because I want to have your comments for the finishing : varnish ? Paint (Which color ?) or another solution

Comments welcome

Thanks for looking

Nice chair Diggerjack, but you need a second chair so you can sit with the wife and sip the fruit of the vine (maybe cup/glass holders in the arms of the chair?). As far as finish options, you may wish to consider Steve’s suggestion of using a deck stain/sealer. I’ve used Thompson Water Seal on some outdoor furniture and have found it to be easy to apply and easy to refresh. Simply re-apply when surface water no longer beads up.

If it’s not a surprise for the wife, then I would ask her what she prefers for a finish.
My wife likes to have a say when it come down to a finish color, when it’s for her.
Just sayin’

Nice chair, Jack. For someone living that far from the Adirondacks, you did a great job. Congrats !

If it’s meant to be left outside, I wouldn’t paint it because of the maintenance issue. I would go for oil or stain.

I’m sure the wife will be thrilled, what is very good for you !! :)

Best,

Serge

The backdrop to the chair picture allows me to share a modification I make on my chairs. I use a 3” hole saw to cut a hole in the arm, round off the edges. Make a 4” disc and drill a hole in the center and glue it centered under the hole.
Good drink holder. Doug

Nice build Jack. If it will be an outside chair, be sure to use something for the elements of all seasons. You’re wife should be very happy happy happy.
