Cherry Native American Bust Carving

I was commissioned to carve this Native American bust…. Fortunately for myself and the client, I was able to find a standing- dead Cherry on my property to use for such a large piece with a moisture content of only about 7.5%- perfect for a hand carving. This guy is 17” tall, 10” wide and 9” deep. There are lots of worm holes in this guy and some really large holes on the top of his head- I really like using wood like this- nature made it beautiful, I did some shaping :)

Outstanding! Beautiful work and the Cherry really make it “POP” I love the Ancestral carvings always.
