This project, or at least the Mahogany Base, started out to be a small “Side Table” for my Brother. After speaking with him it turned out that he needs something MUCH bigger than I am geared up to make, so I was left with this Base of about 4 3/4 inches diameter. A few days before, I had been sorting through some wood & found a piece of Cherry & a piece of Oak, both about 3/4 inch square & 25 inches or so long, that were perfect for gluing together….so I did just that, then cut them in half & glued them together thinking….they’ll do for something sometime! So, by sheer accident, this Candlestick came into being. I’m quite fond of it now!!

Thanks Jim! It was a case of finding something to use that Base for as I didn’t want to waste a nice piece of Mahogany. A Candle holder seemed a reasonable option, so I went with the idea. I’m quite pleased with it. It stands about 14 inches tall.

Elegant. An excellent way to use your abilities to make something from another idea.

Thanks for the kind comments folks! After seeing how nicely this one looks, I’ve now found another piece of Oak & a piece of Cherry that are clamped up & waiting for the glue to dry. I feel another candlestick could be in the offering soon!!...well, when I return from my quick visit back to North West England to visit Family & Friends.
