Vase w/Collar a 1st

Yep, you guessed more Spalted Maple. This is my first … what I would call a vase HF. With this I tried a collar out… don’t know if I went through the best process of making one… but it came out okay. This is 5 1/2” high and 4 3/4” in diameter. I did much better in keeping the thickness this time at 1/4”, but then again I wasn’t fearing a blow out.

Kerux, by the look of the structure of that wood a blow out would be highly risky. Well done on the end product.

Very nice Kerux. Was the collar made of walnut? Nice spalting.

Truly fine. You’ve taken a miracle of nature and amplified and refined it. Anyone would be proud to have this sitting in their home.

Well executed. I love the classic, simple shape. It accents the beauty of the wood. Very elegant.

Beautiful Turning and Knot!!

Was the knot near the top and the one along the side continuous through the center of the vase?

Good Luck on the contest!!
