Cherry Craft Brewers Mash Paddle

This was a very touching and special mash paddle to create.

A very nice customer from Houston, Texas contacted me and wanted to use one of my Mash Paddles as an anniversary gift for her Husband – seems they will be opening a brewery in the very near future and she thought this would be the perfect gift!

The dedication script in the center of the paddle was a first for me – it took quite a bit of work with both my CNC Router and then hand-carving tools to get just right – well worth the effort, though.

Since it will be used at a commercial brewery, the paddle is 55 inches tall and around an inch thick – it needs to be that large to be able to get to the bottom of a 7BBL mash tun! That’s 220 gallons, by the way.

Wood is solid cherry and is treated with 100% food grade mineral oil.

The hops flowers were cut out using my scroll saw.

By the way, the typo in the dedication was purposely done and has a special meaning for the couple that ordered it. ;-)

Great job on this Bob. Great gift too.
I think my wife was once planning on getting a paddle like this for me, but not for mash.

My older son is a beer snob and he keeps telling me about all the micro breweries popping up all over America and Europe. He even brought some to Sweden for my younger son’s wedding so we could taste test them. One was way too bitter and the other way to sweet for me, but I can relate to folks who are trying to make better stuff with more flavor. I still like my alcohol free ‘Munkholms’ dark beer best and I had some Swedish ‘Norrlands Guld’ I liked too. I guess i have about 6 cans a year.
