This queen size headboard was a commission from a long time friend. I like commissioned work…it’s sold before I start :) commission work for friends on the other hand is touchy, I want my clients to be 100% satisfied and if they aren’t I want to know. When doing something for a friend can you ever really be sure ? With this one I could…even with the less than precise design and technical requirements of “something simple that I’ll like for a queen size bed and I may want to paint it” . This client (and friend of 30 years) is quite possibly the most easy going person on the planet. It’s made of air dried pine that was milled 25 years ago. It is pocket screwed and brad nailed. The modified board & batten design brings in an arts & crafts feel with the recesses and the dark stain on the pine gives it a rustic look. The posts are box beam construction. Picture 1 is how I delivered it,pictures 2&3 are his chosen finish and installed.
