Well after my bent form guitar stand I was really craving just a quick project to do in a day or two. I had gotten a really nice piece of BAB that had been dyed black and stabilized from Cory Norgart at Up North Burls. The quality of wood is amazing and the resin impregnation is full through and top notch in my opinion. This piece doesn’t have “finish” on it, just polished as is and then a coat of wax on the top.
The pattern is 120 holes for each player and the pattern was done with 5/64” holes for some small sized cribbage pegs. The pattern was scaled and printed in photoshop, printed out and spray glued over top the piece as I drilled the holes. They were done freehand so they aren’t completely perfect but as a whole they are pretty good with only a few “sore eyes” in the bunch.
The bottom has a layer of leather on it to keep it from sliding around and getting scratched up. You can really see it in the pics but it lifts it up off of the table just enough to give it the “separated” look. This was a fun little project and just what I’ve been wanting to do with this block of wood I’ve been saving! I really wanted to “use” as little of the wood as possible to leave the beautiful burl grown showing through.
