This was my first proper wood working project. Lots of DIY stuff around the house, but this was the first real project. I built this planter box as a gift for the mother-in-law.

Cedar 2×4 glued to form the legs.
Cedar 2×4 stretchers with dado.
Panels are 1×6 cedar decking boards left over from a deck project.

The tenons were cut on the table saw. Fairly straight forward.

The mortises were cut on the drill press, then cleaned out with a chisel. They were not accurate at all. The joints were loose. Clamps and glue.

The legs had chamfered ends, a nice decorative dado at the top.

I sized the project to fit a black plastic bin – it’s about 22”x30”x26”h.

Finish was just BLO.

Love cedar. I plan on doing some planters for our back yard too. Nice job.
