Cushion Cabinet

This is a commission piece I did for a theatre venue. They needed a cabinet to hold extra seat cushions and it needed to fit in with the venue’s decor.

Birch plywood carcass. Trim is solid birch that was shaped and gold-leafed (I did not carve the fancy pieces or the bun feet). A band of mirror-plexi was added as an accent. Top is marble. Two coats of stain with I think six coats of poly.

Very nice work. It fits in perfectly. I am sure the theater owners are pleased with this piece.

Those cushions certainly have a lovely home! I was surprised at the individual “rooms” for each cushion.
