Here is a “Dock Yard” style night stand built for my daughter. It should be the first piece of a bedroom suite. It was her choice to keep the markings and she came up with the pattern for the top. I would have made it look like the sides but her sense of style is better than mine.

All pallet wood and nothing special of fancy. It did turn out to be a good learning experience.

The next piece in the set is the bed frame. I’ll keep you posted.

of the pallet.

Interesting, the knob looks out of place though.

Funny you should say that! The daughter and her mom spent three days finding that. They looked in big box stores, local hardware stores, and antique shops. The finally found that one at World Market of all places. (They actually have some good looking stuff.)

Anyway, Through the entire thing we bantered back and forth about her “knob”. “Does it adjust the volume? Does it change the channel? Does it turn something on and off? NOPE? Then it’s not a knob! You use it to PULL the drawer open so it’s called a pull!” Her reply…”You use it to PUSH the drawer closed and it’s not called a “push”!

We have the same back and forth about “dowel rod” VS “stick”.

She is a lot of fun to have around the shop. And aside from being queen of my heart she is, in this case, my customer. And if it makes my little girl smile….well, how could I say no?
