A buddy dropped his retirement paperwork. I took leave and made this for him. The cover is hinged to open up to see more stuff.

Beautiful work! It’s obvious some time and effort went into this, along with a lot of talent. Was the walnut veneered in or solid strips? Explain, if you would.

Not veneer or a CNC machine. Just good old fashion sanding work. all 3/4 maple and walnut. it looks the same on the back. I used my ridgid oscillating edge/belt spindle sander a lot for this one. Set the two stripes against each other and marked with a pencil were I needed to sand. I have done some intarsia this way and I thought is was the best way. Making another for my CMSgt this month. Trying to figure out how to make the stripes split from the roof rack and the base to open the box.
