I made this desk a few months ago but I only got around to staining it last weekend. Its oak with a mahogany stain. The base is a frame and panel construction, the tambours for the top all interlock.

I really like how you left it open on the inside instead of little cubby holes like the old ones usually have.

I did not think the cubby would be practical for modern use. When I put my laptop in the top there would not be a lot of room left if I had the cubby.

Very nice desk, well crafted. After the stain, did you apply any additional protection?
