Shaker Step Stool

My wife and I are just a few inches too short to reach the clothes line. Found some simple plans online for this shaker step stool and made a few adjustments so the step is 6” tall as opposed to 9. The original plan is free and can be found here: http://http://www.start-with-free-woodworking-plans.com/step-stool-plans-2.html.

I started with a piece of barn board and ran it through the planer to smooth it out. I carefully planned my cuts to remove all but one knot. The plan calls for pocket holes, but you can easily build this if you don’t have a way to make them. Nothing too fancy but I impressed myself with how it ended up looking. May have to crank out a couple of these when my daughter needs to reach the sink.

Will stain it with a solid outdoor stain to protect it from the weather.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work. I thought I had seen all the Shaker designs, this one is new to me. It isn’t very far away from being a very nice chair as well.
