I am amazed. Having a career in engineering made it interesting, but thinking through the patience and management of all those pieces is staggering.

My compliments.

Steve.

I keep coming back and looking at these. What size are they? are they tables? if not, they would make very cool ones. 75 high? 75cm? 3” ??

Beautifully designed and executed! Do you consider yourself an engineer or mathematician or wood technician? You took such painstaking effort in keeping the grid so accurate and your other work shows you are quite meticulous in your technique. Very admirable work.

As for the top finish, I think either black/dark brown to not take away from the extraordinary texture, OR a fire red/orange that glows to attract a lot of attention to it then you see the detail of the sides. Alike that of molten lava burning red/orange under the harden black crust. If you play with some color combinations and options on spare sheets of wood you can cut them out and place on top before committing to the final piece.

I think it looks fantastic just the way it is, The white (looks white) makes it pop, maybe some type of white wood on top. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
