I made several of these for family members at Christmas last year. All versions included walnut, for contrast I used oak, birch, polar, or a mix. I used a 60 degree sled and a band saw. No special joinery, just glue holds them together and finished with spray lacquer.

I like these… will have to make some more myself… note to self… make some of these….
