Customer needed a hutch with a distressed finish. This one is just about 8 ft. tall.
I used bead board ply (see 3rd pic) for the panels in the doors and side panels of carcass. Constucted from poplar, poplar ply, and mdf. Counter is a beautiful piece of figured walnut.
primed painted glazed and then clear coated.

I love the design with the large moldings, and the walnut counter really sets it off. Beautiful!

FANTASTIC looking. This is an heirloom for sure. Thanks for posting.
ps. Starsky agrees. He thinks Hutch is looking a bit distressed, but not overly wrought with anxiety.

Interesting color choice since the walnut really stands out. Very impressive in size and detail and quite lovely.

Nice piece of furniture. Its amazing to me the the talent that people on this site have. Can you tell me how you got the distressed look on the finish?
Thanks,
FMG

Thanks FMG,
First I primed it with stain blocking primer (oil base)
2) 2 coats of satin oil based paint (customers color choice) sprayed with an hvlp gun
3 Let the oil base paint dry a good 48 hours.
4)I took a can of oil based gel stain (dark walnut) and worked it with a brush into the nooks and crannys. but immediately wiped it off the paint with lots of clean rags and paint thinner. the dark stain remains in the cracks and corners etc.
5) let dry 48 hrs.
6) hit it with 2 coats of poly to seal in the gel stain.
