Been a little while since I sat down and made some pens, and like the title says, it still is fun. I had an customer order for the picture of 4 pens, and since I was set up made a few more.
-Two John Deere colored pens
-Black and Blue pen
-Red and Black pen
-Orange and Black pen
-Desert pen (maroon, orange, and brown plys
-Exotic Yellow Heart pen

The laminated woods are Colorwood from Rutland Wood, and the John Deere wood is Spectra Ply wood. I believe Rutland wood is better wood, doesn’t age as bad as the Spectra does, but the Spectra wood is easier to purchase in smaller amounts that Rutland. All the plys go the same direction, unlike plywood which goes both cross directions. I used EEE and Shellawax cream to finish. Sanded to 4000 grit.

My favorite slim-line pens are from Penn State Inc. And the Shellawax has to become very hot to do the right job. If your fingers don’t get hot, you might not be doing it right!

Had fun, and the customer is a former class mate from my high school days, the class of 1975! Thanks for looking.
