Hey All, Well my nephew is getting his Eagle Scout Rank on this coming Saturday. I know for a fact that he will be getting an American Flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol. So I decided to build him a display case for it. I made it all out of Red Oak and Oak plywood for the back. I shaped the molding for the front on the router table and then ripped them on the TS. I had trouble figuring out the angles for the lower miters but got really close then sanded them ti fit. In the back I routered a rabbit for the back cover and did it with the main part of the case assembled on the router table. I found that it made a better finish cut and looks nicer.I also made a rabbit on the front to hold the glass in place.I put one lite coat of Walnut Stain on the entire Case and then , for the first time, used a Spray Poly on it. I called and had a Plaque made up with a nice congrats and the date. While I was at the Trophy shop I noticed some Eagle Medallions on some trophies. I asked the lady about them and she gave me the two that are on the case. I hope that he will like this. I think it came out very nice. Let me know your thoughts on it.
Have a great day,
Lance,,,, AKA Charger1966

Lance:
Nice work and a really nice thought. I was a scout master for 14 years and the young men who attained Eagle really appreciate that other recognize what a long road they have traveled to earn this award. I made a special plaque for my son and my nephew when they received their award but wish I had made something a bit more. I think your work fits the bill. Thanks for posting it.
