A couple of years ago a friend of mine had a large cherry tree fall during a storm. At the time I hadn’t gotten into turning and mostly only took the wood that I could make boards out of with my alaskan chainsaw mill( in the barn drying…future kitchen cabinets according to my better half). In hindsight it is such a shame because a lot of wood ended up in the fireplace that would have made great bowls or other turning projects. I did however hang onto a large burl section with no real idea what I would do with it, I contemplated making some of my own veneer but that never happened. So now with a lathe in the shop the burl could become something. Being that I am still early in the learning curve with woodturning, this bowl is a little thicker than I would have liked, and the shape isn’t perfect, but on the other hand the wood is gorgeous!

Beautiful piece of wood, nicely turned also, I like thicker turned bowls, most of mine are.
