Well, here it is, my first piece of fine furniture. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. The table is solid cherry. The legs and stretchers are attached by mortise and tenon and the top is attached with figure 8 fasteners. The finish is one coat of General Finishes Seal-A-Cell and 5 coats of Arm-R-Seal with 4/0 steel wool between coats. I think I’ll give it a week or to for the finish to harden then rub it out with a bit of wax.

It looks good to me. I can’t quite tell what shape those legs are but, I like the overall proportions. I’m curious about how many figure eight fasteners you used because I can never understand from what I’ve seen David Marks do how they’re going to allow movement? Anyway, great job Jason.

Putter,
The legs are kind of an elongated pentagon. I used 4 figure 8’s; one on each stretcher out near the legs. With a table this size, I really don’t expect too much movement, just couldn’t come up with a more creative way to fasten the top!

Nice table. I’d like a closer look at the legs and how you did the stretchers.
