Here is my latest commisioned project I just completed. This lamp is my latest effort with bent lamination. Made from one piece of solid walnut that I resawed into veneer. Since I am shipping this to New Hampshire (I live in CA) the client wanted it to be shipped as flat as possible. The legs, therefore, are shipped unattached to the main bow. They are held in place by connection bolts that thread into brass inserts. The overall dimensions are 13 1/2”d 30”w x 60”h. I blogged the process here on LJ. Thank you for looking.
Here are some additional shots

Alas, the lamp. I really like it, and I think the knock-down feature is very ingenious. Workmanship, as always, is fantastic, and the aesthetic is incredible. Nice photos, too. I think outdoor pics add alot, especially to contemporary pieces. Something about the complexity of nature vs. the simplicity of good design that strikes a great visual and emotional balance. Nice.
Mah-velous. Simply mah-velous.
Peace, JM

Great results! The main bow is reminiscent of a bass clef…

Very sharp man. I was watching woodworks the other day and David Marks was building a bent lamination lamp that I thought was very cool. I see some similarity in yours but I really like where you took the design, if that was where you got the inspiration: ). I was thinking very seriously about building something similar to Marks’ but I may end up going the way you have taken it. Great job! simple and elegant. Keep’em coming

Wow Thanks everyone for the nice comments!
Darryl, I grew up in Wolfeboro NH on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Dayton, David Marks’ Lamp was one of the sources of inspiration for the lamp.
Blake, It will go up on my website at some point probably after I finish my Asian Inspired Side table. I have a feeling you are really going to find bent lamination easy to do and very rewarding.
