I was volunteered to build a display case for a donated Jersey by Manu Ginobli for on of our parish ministries. The task seemed simple enough a box with a plexiglass window how tough could it be.
Tough enough when you consider my shop is fold away, and the only surface big enough to dry fit my box is my kitchen table. I have only one band clamp, and two 24 inch clamps, which of course mean it will have to be glued all at one time on the kitchen table between meals.
I was able to get some good tips for Lumberjocks, but still had trouble on the dry fit to get the Plexiglass to fit in the top groove to complete my box. I ended up hot-glueing a wedge on the last peice to be inserted in the box which guided the plexiglass into its correct slot. At this point I was able to complete my dry fit, and move onto the glue up. Once the box dried I cut the door on my table saw and removed the wedge.
It worked out all right, and the results are ok for my first jersey display case. The little issues have been figured out and the rest that the neighbors have requested should go better I hope.
The box measures 34 1/2×29 x 3.
