Cherry and maple bookcase

This was the step in my home office furniture project (see the desk/hutch project) hence the poor picture quality (its about 5 years old so my digital camera at the time was suspect). Its solid cherry frame and shelves with solid maple panels and cherry ply back panels. I based it on a bookcase I saw in a FWW issue a few years ago.

Still one of my favorite projects.

Very nice Matt. I love the contrast between the cherry and maple.

I agree with Scott, great combination of wood. Looks rock solid too.

Looks really nice. I like the different angles on the top.

Great craftsmanship Matt!

I especially like the edge treatment on the top, & the nice contrast of wood.

That looks so good I would hate to put books on it and I love books. Another example of keeping it simple, yet very decorative at the same time. Wonder what it would look like in walnut and birdseye maple.

nice work here too! the figure in the cherry in the 2nd pic is excellent. i also like the edge treatment on the underside of the top. I might have to steal that for a nightstand i’m working on.

Have your say...
