Last year my 13 year old son & I took a long weekend to see some new baseball stadiums. We drove to St. Louis to see the Cardinals, Louisville to see the Bats (Reds AAA affiliate) & the Louisville Slugger factory.

We had a great time & I wanted to make something to remember the trip. This combo bat rack & shelf is what I came up with. It is 12” square & made from a piece of maple with walnut for the border & I CNC’d the banner & year on it & filled with colored epoxy.

Every new ballpark we go to, I get him a mini-bat. On this shelf L-R is the Cardinals, customized Louisville slugger and the Louisville Bats. The bobble-head is of Billy Hamilton-who is now with the Reds. The Bats play several blocks from the Louisville Slugger factory & the night we were at the game their souvenir shop didn’t have any mini-bats??? I had to order the bat on the internet & the bobble-head was a give away the night we were there.

Thanks for looking.

Great project! I’m a huge baseball fan myself. Growing up, my dad and I would travel to see different stadiums. Those are some great memories. I had the chance to get to that Slugger factory a few years ago while in Louisville on business. That tour is a must for any baseball fan.

Every boy should be so lucky as to have gone on that trip with Dad … and then hang this memento in their room! Very well done.

Thanks for the kind comments. We are in the process of looking into a trip this August-possibly Milwaukee to see the Brewers vs. Dodgers?
