I love to make cutting boards. Some would say (SPalm) that I’m addicted and they are probably right but when you spend hours looking at the “artwork” displayed on LJ, you just have to eventually try something different and since I just got my first bandsaw (Laguna 14/12) I thought I would try something different.

So here are my first efforts at Bandsaw boxes.

The tall one is Ambrosia Maple and Walnut and the smaller one is African Mahogany.
I tried a mixture of BLO, Tung Oil and Wipe on Poly for the finish (??? who knows).
I was pleased with both but I realize that I have a lot of practice to do yet.

Thanks

I’d say you did a Great job on those BS boxes. I have made a few (OK, allot of them) and you will find they get easier with each one you do..just like those lovely cutting boards you make

Thanks Larry – I had as much trouble getting to “know” the bandsaw as I did cutting the boxes. But like you said, that will get easier too!...I hope!

Nice work Dennie. Looks like fun!

These were the 2 “most simple” designs I could find that had 2 and 3 drawers.
Someday, if I keep practicing, maybe I can produce something “remotely” similar to those amazing designs I see here on LJ. (Hawaiilad…!!!)
I’m also going to try “flocking” (didn’t even know that was a word before) on the inside of the drawers on both of these next week.

Great looking band saw box. Outstanding job on the design.
